A very complete and long aging wine from a great vineyard of Serralunga d'Alba. The color is intense ruby red. The smell is intense, pleasant, balanced and spicy with a bouquet of plums, cedar, tobacco, liquorice, soy and floral notes. The taste is full bodied, concentrated and rich, with a firm tannic structure that classic Barolo need for a long aging . Recommended with: As with the Barolo Villero, traditional combinations are with game or red meat dishes. The great balance of this Barolo makes it very suitable also with mature cheese bread.

Wine Advocate The 2000 Barolo Ca Mia is from a vineyard in Serralunga d'Alba and the wine, predictably, is rich and powerful, penetrating and tarry on the nose and with abundant flavors of cherry and plum fruit, anisette, and dried flowers. It is more approachable than the Barolo Villero at the moment, but likely to last longer as well. Drink: 2005-2020. Score: 92. —Daniel Thomases, August 2005.
